Services and Programs

-211

In an emergency, we all know to dial 9-1-1. But, if you need non-emergency help for every day needs, you need to know about 2-1-1. Whether you need help with housing, education, food, transportation, legal services or more, dialing that one number will connect you to a trained operator who can refer you to people and agencies in your community that can assist you. 2-1-1 is funded locally by United Way of Cullman County.

-Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster

United Way of Cullman County acts as fiscal agent for Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster of Cullman County. VOAD membership is comprised of a diverse group of non-profits and faith-based organizations experienced in immediate and long-term disaster relief; they are tasked with leveraging volunteer and financial resources to make the greatest possible impact on those least able to recover from disasters on their own. We are prepared to accept donations of cash and building materials to help fund repairs to owner occupied homes for low-income residents with little or no insurance coverage. With this funding, VOAD, partnering with other community resources, can help ensure that appropriate repairs are made by licensed contractors for the safety and security ot the families so greatly impacted. For more information, contact Waid Harbison at 256-739-2948.

-SingleCare

For the last several years, FamilyWize has been a partner with United Way, offering discounts on prescription drugs through various pharmacies in our area. Recently, FamilyWize merged with SingleCare, a national organization that works in the same way -  to improve people's lives by providing access to affordable prescription medications. Much like FamilyWize, SingleCare is FREE to use by everyone -  all you have to do is show the card to a pharmacist. Over 10,000 prescriptions qualify for up to 80% savings and is accepted at pharmacy chains like Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS. Another great perk of this program is that it doesn't take into account whether or not you have insurance -  you can use it no matter your situation, and it can be used an unlimited amount of times! For additional savings, you can sign up at www.singlecare.com. Homebound and can't travel to get your medicines? SingleCare offers a home delivery option through GeniusRx - including free shipping. You can find information on home delivery at www.singlecare.com/prescription-delivery. Have a pet that requires medication? You can use SingleCare for their medications as well. SingleCare also offers a loyalty program; when you initially sign-up/register, you will receive $5 immediately that will apply to your first prescription refill. Afterwards, any time you refill an eligible prescription, you will earn $1 that will be placed on your account for use whenever you choose.
