2020-21 Day of Caring

September 15 is Day of Caring in Cullman

United Way of Cullman County, in collaboration with its community partners, will host a modified Day of Caring September 15, 2020. The event will provide community members with a meaningful and collective volunteer opportunity and serve as the kick-off to the Annual United Way Campaign.

“This year we are all having to look for new ways to respond to the challenges we are facing,” said Becky Goff, executive director, United Way of Cullman County.  “Our nonprofits need us now more than ever and Day of Caring gives us the opportunity to unite and give back.”
United Way volunteers will not gather in large groups like previous Day of Caring, but business and organizations will still be able to participate.  Businesses are encouraged to gather a team of co-worker, friends or family and select a project that fits the group size and skills.  Outdoor projects will be available to adopt on https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4FADAA22A6FEC16-dayofcaring (examples include landscaping and painting). Volunteers are asked to take recommended public health precautions and to avoid close contact, wear a face covering when appropriate and maintain distance as much as possible.

Individuals and groups who want to participate while socially distancing, can choose to host a supply drive or collection site for local nonprofits.   If you or your organization would like to support Day of Caring without adopting a project, we encourage you to wear your United Way t-shirt on September 15.   Please snap a pic and tag us on Facebook or Instagram! #dayofcaringuwcullman

“Day of Caring promotes the value of volunteerism and demonstrates that neighbors helping neighbors can create a positive change in the lives of children, families and seniors”.  Goff said.  “While we still don’t know the financial impact the pandemic will have on donations, United Way will continue to play a vital role in helping our neighbors, friends and families through these difficult times.”
