United Way Board Approves Hail-Storm Windshield Voucher Program to help Cullman-area Residents

United Way’s Board of Directors approved the release of funds to help with repairs to damaged windshields today. Qualifying Cullman County residents who sustained damaged to their cars as a result of the March 19, 2018 storms can apply for a voucher. “We have limited funds to distribute to qualifying applicants, but we will begin the process of contacting individuals and families who are already on our waiting list to receive assistance,” said Deborah Hoover, Board Chair, United Way of Cullman County.

“We are thankful to the United Way contributors and community partners whose generosity make this program possible. With continued support from the community, we can begin to help people rebuild their lives.” United Way is thankful to The Cullman Lions Club who made a donation of $5,000 as well as numerous community members who have stepped up to help in the relief efforts. Qualifying residents requesting a voucher must provide a copy of a current Alabama Driver’s License, a copy of current vehicle tag receipt and proof of insurance as of March 19, 2018. Residents must also meet the current federal poverty guidelines.

United Way will begin to contact wait-list applicants to make appointments on Wednesday, March 28. Contributions are still needed.
